ANKARA (AA) – Top officials of Ankara Civil Society Platform (ASTP) on Thursday visited the headquarters of Anadolu Agency, where issues pertaining to Jerusalem and the judicial process of Palestinian resistance icon Sheikh Raed Salah were discussed.

Anadolu Agency’s Deputy Director General and Editor-in-Chief Metin Mutanoglu received President of the platform Mustafa Kir, President of Jerusalem Commission within ASTP Mehmet Fatih Serenli and Khaled Zabarqa ,the lawyer of Raed Salah.

During the meeting, Kir said they have established Jerusalem Commission within their platform after U.S. President Donald Trump announced his so-called Middle East peace plan.

Noting that they aim to raise awareness against Trump’s plan and moving of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Kir thanked Anadolu Agency for their contribution in this regard.

Serenli reminded that Raed Salah’s next trial hearing will be held on Feb. 10 and thanked Anadolu Agency for highlighting the issue.

Mutanoglu, for his part, said Raed Salah and Ekrima Sabri — former grand mufti of Jerusalem — are two symbols of Jerusalem.

“Turkish society is sensitive about Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa regardless of their political views,” he added.

Mutanoglu said Anadolu Agency has moved its center of the Middle East news department to Jerusalem and now it has offices in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza.
