GAZA (AA) – Israeli army martyred two Palestinians including a voluntary paramedic during Friday's demonstration against Israeli occupation at the Gaza-Israel buffer zone, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

According to ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra, a 27-year-old paramedic, Abdallah al-Qitati, and a Palestinian teenager Ali al-Alul were shot dead by Israeli forces during protests on the border.

The spokesman also confirmed that 70 Palestinian demonstrators were also injured by Israeli live ammunition.

Protesters demand the “right of return” to their homes and villages in historical Palestine from which they were driven in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.

They also demand an end to Israel’s 11-year blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has gutted the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of basic commodities.

Since the demonstrations began some four months ago, 160 Palestinians have been martyred by Israeli army forces deployed along the other side of the buffer zone.
