Israel army disperses demonstration in occupied W. Bank

AGHWAR SHAMALIYAH, Palestine (AA) – Israeli army troops on Monday forcibly dispersed a demonstration held to protest Tel Aviv’s monopolization of water resources in northern parts of the occupied West Bank.

“Four Palestinians sustained minor injuries when Israeli forces aggressively dispersed demonstrators and journalists in the Aghwar Shamaliyah district of the West Bank village of Bardala,” Moataz Basharat, a local Palestinian official, told Anadolu Agency.

According to Basharat, villagers staged the demonstration to protest a recent decision by the Israeli authorities to reduce the amount of water allotted for residents of the area.

Most of Aghwar Shamaliyah’s roughly 10,000 Palestinian residents — who rely mainly on agriculture and livestock husbandry — must live in primitive homes due to strict Israeli building restrictions.
