Iraq records 74 fresh COVID-19 fatalities

ISTANBUL (AA) – Iraq on Friday confirmed 74 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, bringing the death toll in the country to 6,814.

The Health Ministry said as many as 4,177 more COVID-19 cases raised the tally to 223,612, while the total number of recoveries reached 164,874.

The pandemic has claimed more than 832,600 lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in China last December. The US, Brazil, Russia and India are currently the worst-hit countries.

Nearly 24.5 million cases have been reported worldwide, while more than 16.04 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
