Iraq records 57 new COVID-19 fatalities

BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraq confirmed 57 new deaths from the novel coronavirus Tuesday, bringing its death toll to 8,682.

The Health Ministry said 4,724 additional COVID-19 cases raised the tally to 327,580, while the number of recoveries reached 261,757.

The pandemic has claimed more than 966,100 lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in China last December. The US, Brazil, Russia and India are currently the worst-hit countries.

More than 31.3 million cases have been reported worldwide, while greater than 21.5 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
