BAGHDAD (AA) – At least 21 people were injured Friday in Iraq’s capital Baghdad as Sadrist protestors crossed into the Green Zone and stormed the Parliament and Prime Minister’s Office, sources said.

Interior Ministry sources told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to the restrictions of speaking to the media that 21 people were injured in brawls between protesters and security forces.

An Anadolu Agency reporter at the scene says security forces fired into the air to try to disperse the demonstrators, followers of Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Many security forces and armored vehicles were deployed in the Green Zone as reinforcements.
