LONDON (AA) – Despite the recent volatility in emerging markets, veteran investor and co-founder of Mobius Capital Partners Mark Mobius said there existed a number of great opportunities in developing economies.
He told Anadolu Agency that on Friday in volatile situations there are always winners and losers, which he said was always exaggerated in emerging markets.
“There are a number of great opportunities in developing economies. Simply because they are growing so fast and represent a larger and larger portion of the world’s GDP [Gross Domestic Product].”
“The situation is not alarming and there is an opportunity now to make terrific investments,” he added.
“Volatile situations always present opportunities, so we can’t say that it is all bad,” Mobius added, noting that the recent volatility might present investment opportunities in Turkey.
“However, for foreign investors interested in maintaining the value of their investments in U.S. dollars or euro terms, the possibility of further currency devaluation creates hazards. Under normal circumstances, exporters in Turkey would benefit from a weak lira.”
Mark Faber, the editor and publisher of the Gloom, Boom & Doom Report, also told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday that Turkish assets provided investment opportunities to investors from around the world.
