BEIRUT (AA) – Lebanese group Hezbollah on Saturday buried five fighters killed in war-torn Syria earlier this year.

The group held a mourning tent in the eastern city of Baalbek for the five members, whose bodies were returned to Lebanon on Wednesday under a swap deal between the Syrian regime and Daesh group, the official Lebanese news agency reported.

Under the deal, Daesh freed a number of abductees from the Druze-majority city of Al-Suweida in southern Syria in return of the regime's release of female detainees.

The five fighters had been killed in an ambush in central Syria earlier this year.

Hezbollah has been fighting alongside Syrian regime forces against opposition groups since involved in the fighting in Syria alongside the regime in the country’s civil war that broke out in 2011.
