ANKARA (AA) – An international hardware fair in Istanbul will gather the $250 billion industry in the metropolis, said the sector's business association in Turkey.

Organized by the Hardware Manufacturers and Businessmen Association (HISIAD), Hardware Eurasia will cover all products and services of the industry's wide spectrum of output, according to a statement on Friday by the body.

HISIAD President Cetin Tecdelioglu said the fair would be a new platform where all participants that manufacture and sell hardware products could come together.

Underlining that the Turkish hardware sector currently exports to nearly 200 countries around the world, he said: "The industry has an export volume of $8.2 billion. We want to create a common ground where the hardware industry can develop in the most efficient way."

He emphasized that the demand for Turkish hardware products was increasing in the US, Latin America and East Asia, with the effects of the novel coronavirus pandemic and the international conditions.

Despite the pandemic, the hardware industry's exports were $4.5 billion in the first nine months of the year with a target of $7 billion for 2021. At this point, Hardware Eurasia will make a significant contribution to the hardware sector's exports, he said.

Due to the virus outbreak, no-contact rules and measure will be in force during the event.

Hardware Eurasia will be held under three main themes: Industrial hardware, hand tools-general hardware and furniture-building hardware.
