PARIS (AA) – Ministers from at least 20 different countries — including Turkey — will meet in Paris on Thursday to discuss Mosul’s political future.

The Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces launched a much-awaited offensive late Sunday to retake Mosul — the last Daesh stronghold in northern Iraq, which was overrun by the terrorist group in 2014.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault confirmed to diplomacy correspondents on Tuesday in Paris the international ministerial-level meeting will be held on Thursday.

During the gathering, ministers will discuss urgent measures to protect civilians and aid delivery, Ayrault said.

He added that Turkey would also attend the meeting with other countries, including the U.S., some Gulf states plus EU members.
