FRANKFURT, Germany (AA) – The 18th Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival will begin on Oct. 13.

Huseyin Sitki, the festival chairman, said nearly 40 films — including short movies — from Turkey, Germany and other European countries would be screened in the festival.

He said 30 guests from Turkish cinema will also be hosted at the event.

As part of this festival, “Golden Apple” awards will be given for the 7th time this year. Ten full-length films chosen by Turkish jury will be evaluated by German jury for the award.

Separately, several Turkish cinema figures, including Erden Kiral, Isil Yucesoy and Cezmi Baskin, will be given lifetime honor awards.

The loyalty award will go to Turkish actor Feridun Karakaya, who died at the age of 76 in 2004.

The festival also covers many other events such as interviews, panels, exhibitions and concerts.

The Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival, which aims to promote economic and cultural sharing between Turkish and German societies through cinema, will continue until Oct. 19.
