ISTANBUL (AA) – Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan moved to Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for the remainder of the season, the club confirmed on Friday.

"That's my focus, to come in here and work hard, push each other and improve as a player and as a person. I have no doubts that I'm in the right environment to do that," Ryan said in a statement.

Ryan previously played for Spain's Valencia, Belgium's Club Brugge KV, and KRC Genk.

He has made 59 appearances for the Australia national team, helping his nation win the Asian Cup in 2015.

Ryan won the best goalie award at the 2015 tournament that was held in Australia.

The 28-year-old will wear the number 33 jersey.
