ANKARA (AA) – Australia will take on the U.S.A. on Sunday evening basketball in the FIBA Women's World Cup Final, scheduled to be played at Santiago Martin Arena on the Spanish Canary Island of Tenerife at 8 p.m. local time (GMT1900).

The Opals defeated Spain 72-66 on Saturday evening in the semifinal to advance to final for the first time since 2006.

The United States, on the other hand, eased past Belgium in the semifinal 93-77 to advance to the gold medal match.

The U.S.A. women will look to be champions once again to continue their dominance of women's basketball. They won the last four out of five championships: 1998, 2002, 2010, and 2014.

In 2006, the Australian women took the gold medal when they beat Russia 91-74. That year the United States came in third.

Before the final match, a third-place match will be played between Belgium and Spain.
