Fenerbahce, Besiktas share points in derby match

ANKARA (AA) – Fenerbahce and Besiktas have drawn 1-1 at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul on Monday evening in a Turkish league derby match.

Despite a constant pressure by Fenerbahce, Besiktas got the lead in the first half with Dutch winger Ryan Babel's powerful strike outside the penalty area in the 40th minute.

Fenerbahce responded in the second half with their new transfer, Ghanaian striker Andre Ayew, who netted a curved header past Besiktas' goalkeeper Loris Karius in the 71st minute.

Besiktas' Caner Erkin was sent off with a second yellow card after the final whistle was blown.

Besiktas increased their points total to 11, placed at fourth place, while Fenerbahce got their first draw of the season and placed 13th spot with only 7 points so far in six matches.
