GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – A leading Palestinian resistance figure said Thursday that “escalations” along the Gaza-Israel buffer zone had come to an end.
The source, who spoke to Anadolu Agency anonymously, stated that resistance factions had “responded to the crimes of the Israeli enemy”.
Additional field developments, he added, would depend “on the behavior of the Israeli occupation”.
Earlier Thursday, at least three Palestinians were killed — including a pregnant woman and her 18-month-old baby — by Israeli airstrikes carried out inside the Gaza Strip, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The Israeli army, meanwhile, claimed at least 150 rockets had been fired into Israel by Gaza-based resistance faction Hamas since the current round of hostilities began.
According to the army, 25 of those rockets — which targeted Israeli border communities and the cities of Sderot and Ashkelon — were successfully intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system.
The army went on to say it had bombed more than 120 Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip Wednesday night.
The Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing, has since claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks, which came in response to the death of two of its fighters on Tuesday by Israeli strikes inside Gaza.
