ANKARA (AA) – Chinese tech giant is aiming to be one of the top three brands in Turkey by increasing its market share, Huawei’s consumer electronics marketing director in Turkey said Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference for the company’s 2017 plans and targets, Cem Sezer said: “Huawei has reached very high sales figures in the prominent European markets like Italy, Finland and Spain.”
“We would like to succeed our targets in Turkey as soon as possible. We continue our investments in this direction,” he added.
Sezer stressed that negative perception of “Made in China” needs to be changed in Turkey, and said: “Most of the technology products that we used in our daily routines are produced in China.”
“We are confident that this negative perception in Turkey will fundamentally change with Huawei’s high quality products and technologies,” he said.
“Today, China is a technology giant which is conducting its own space program and is about to introduce its own commercial plane,” he said.
Sezer stated that Huawei is the world’s leading company in the communication technologies industry.
“Hundreds of engineers are working on innovation and new technologies in Huawei Turkey’s R&D center,” Sezer said, noting that it should be an example for other companies to create new jobs in the field of technology.
He highlighted that the investments would continue in Turkey, which is among the twelve “strategic” countries determined by Huawei.
Founded in 1987 and headquartered in China’s Shenzhen city, Huawei has 16 research institutes and centers and 36 joint innovation centers around the world.
The Chinese company invested over $150 million for its R&D center in Istanbul founded in 2009 as Europe’s second largest center for R&D and software solutions.
