Champions League: Lille draw Valencia 1-1 at home

ANKARA (AA) – French team Lille drew against Spanish club Valencia in a home match late Wednesday to remain at the bottom of Group H in the UEFA Champions League.

Both teams failed to score in the first half of the match at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.

Valencia scored the opening goal in the 63rd minute with Russian midfielder Denis Cheryshev placing a beautiful shot just inside the penalty area.

But "Les Dogues" (The Great Danes) responded with a goal in the 95th minute by Jonathan Ikone.

Valencia’s French defender Mouctar Diakhaby was sent off with a red card in the 84th minute and the team finished the match with 10 men.

Lille’s Turkish player Zeki Celik played 90 minutes while his compatriot Yusuf Yazici played 71 minutes.

In another Group H match, Chelsea defeated Ajax 1-0 with a goal by Michy Batshuayi.

Following these results, Chelsea top Group H with six points with Ajax in second place.
