MERSIN, Turkey (AA) – A cargo ship ran aground off Turkey's southern province of Mersin due to heavy waves and stormy weather on Tuesday, a coast guard said.
“The ship named Wardeh drifted 150 meters off the coast and ran aground, ” said the officer, on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media.
“A military helicopter was then sent to lift two people on the deck,” he said.
