Businesses not ready for digitalization: Research

ISTANBUL (AA) – Ninety-three percent of businesses from all around the world want to be a digital enterprise but more than half of them have troubles about digitalization, senior vice president of Dell EMC said Thursday.

Speaking at the Dell Technologies Forum 2018 in Istanbul, Mohammed Amin said a Dell Technologies and Institute of Future survey revealed that 57 percent of businesses could not keep pace with digital transformation.

Amin also said 50 percent of businesses have no foresight into the what their sectors would look like in 10 to 15 years.

He said the improvement in the quality of life with the introduction of digital assistants, industrial robots and smart houses with artificial intelligence will become main topics of the coming period.

In the production side, Amin predicted that future factories will be managed entirely by artificial intelligence.

During the event, Amin also unveiled Dell Technologies Digital Transformation Index, which gauges the level of digital transformation in companies and prepared with 4,600 enterprises from 42 countries including Turkey.

According to the index, 4 percent of businesses in Turkey are able to achieve digital transformation completely while 68 percent of them are ready for partial digitalization.

“Twenty-eight percent of Turkish businesses are slow about digital transformation or they do not have any plans for it, ” Amin said.

On the other hand, one out of every three Turkish businesses have well-designed digital transformation plans supported by investments and innovation projects, he added.

The one-day forum brought together information technologies experts, customers, and academics with sessions on several topics from the digital transformation to the artificial intelligence.
