BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – Bosnia’s state-run news agency became a member of a Europe-wide media body with the support of Anadolu Agency on Friday.

The Federal News Agency’s (FENA) membership application to the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) was approved at the organization’s meeting in the Serbian capital, Belgrade.

The Bosnian agency became the 32nd member of the body alongside France’s AFP, the U.K.’s Press Association and Germany’s DPA.

Anadolu Agency Deputy Director General and Editor-in-Chief Metin Mutanoglu said on Wednesday he would vote for the Bosnian agency.

FENA, which was established in 2000, publishes around 250 news reports daily in Bosnia’s official languages and in English.

EANA is a non-profit organization founded in 1956. Anadolu Agency is a founding member of the alliance, having the right to vote on membership applications.
