Banned chemical weapons 'very likely' used in Syria

THE HAGUE (AA) – The banned nerve agent sarin and chlorine gas were “very likely” used in attacks on March 24-25, 20017 in Syria’s Al-Lataminah region, the global chemical weapons watchdog said on Wednesday.

Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) released a report on attacks launched last year on March 24 -25 in Al-Lataminah region located in the Hama governorate.

“Sarin gas was very likely used as a chemical weapon in the south of Ltamenah […] on March 24 2017, ” the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) of the OPCW said in a report, using a different spelling of Al-Lataminah.

The mission also “concluded that chlorine was very likely used as a chemical weapon at Ltamenah Hospital and the surrounding area on 25 March 2017.”
