ANKARA (AA) – Anadolu Agency begun agency journalism training program for its personnel in capital Ankara.
The three-month program for 54 participants was launched on Thursday at the agency headquarters by Anadolu Agency News Academy, which was established under the framework of its 100th-year vision.
The 488-hour program — which will run through Jan. 25 — was organized for the journalists who have completed the Young Talent Development Program (GYGP).
The participants will receive basic journalism training first month, which will be followed by career training in December. The trainees will practice theoretic at the regional directorates in January.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mustafa Ozkaya, Anadolu Agency's Deputy Director General, said the participants are the new members of a big Anadolu Agency family.
“I think that the deep-rooted Anadolu Agency tradition is more meaningful nowadays. Because we all witness a new world order,” he stated.
Ozkaya also underlined that Turkey is a territory which possesses a large values of humanity, history and civilization.
“So, we are talking about a geography that interests everyone,” he added.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Umit Sonmez, the News Academy coordinator, and Hayri Cetinkus, the vice coordinator, informed the trainees about the institution.
Aysu Bicer, a trainee who studied in England as part of the GYGP, expressed joy and pride to be part of the journalism training program.
“I think that Anadolu Agency will lead the changes in journalism with its training programs,” she said.
Tugcenur Yılmaz — a diplomacy correspondent at the agency who was also a participant of GYGP — said: “I can say that Anadolu Agency is a training center with its practical and theoretical courses.”
Firdevs Yuksel, an economy correspondent, said the agency training programs contributed to her goals in journalism.
After honored with graduation certificates, the trainees will be assigned in various departments at the agency.
