HADHRAMAUT, Yemen (AA) – Four people were killed on Thursday in airstrikes on a government building in Yemen’s southern province of Hadhramaut.

The strikes targeted a building used by al-Qaeda terrorists in eastern al-Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadhramaut, according to locals.

A medical source, who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said that four people were killed and two others were injured in the raids.

On Sunday, Yemeni army forces, backed by Saudi-led coalition planes, launched an offensive against al-Qaeda in Hadhramaut.

In recent months, al-Qaeda has exploited the ongoing conflict between the central government and the Shia Houthi group to bolster its influence in the country’s south.
