MEXICO CITY (AA) – An Aeromexico plane with 101 people onboard crashed Tuesday at Guadalupe Victoria Airport in Mexico’s Durango state.

The Mexican airline said on its Twitter account that it was aware that an accident had occurred and was looking into the matter.

“Aeromexico has been notified of an accident in Durango. We are trying to verify the information and get more details,” it said.

State Governor Jose Aispuro confirmed a plane had crashed at Guadalupe Victoria Airport.

“I have sent security and emergency forces…to attend to the accident,” he said.

No official casualty toll has been released so far, but Aeromexico indicated the plane was an Embraer 190 with a capacity of 100 people. The plane was bound for Mexico City.

Transport Secretary Gerardo Ruiz Esparza confirmed the plane was carrying 97 passengers and four crew members when the accident occurred.
