ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – At least three senior operatives of the YPG/PKK terror group were apprehended at the Erbil airport in northern Iraq on Thursday.

According to the Erbil-based Rudaw news outlet, the terrorists include Mustafa Osman Halil, YPG/PKK’s representative in Erbil, Jihad Hasan and Mustafa Aziz Mista.

Authorities from the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) has not commented on the matter yet.

PKK’s recent attack on Peshmerga forces took place early Tuesday in the Derkar district of KRG.

On Monday, PKK operatives kidnapped two Peshmerga soldiers after an ambush near the Sinjar district of Mosul, Iraq.

Five Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers were killed on Saturday in an attack by the PKK terror group in Iraq's northern Dohuk province.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK's Syrian offshoot.
