ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AA) – An estimated 200 bodies have been uncovered from a mass grave in the eastern part of Ethiopia, according to the police.
The bodies were unearthed during an investigation into the case of Abdi Mohamed, former president of Ethio-Somali regional state.
Abdi was detained two months ago on suspicion of abuse of authority and human rights violations, while a pre-trial into his case is already in progress at federal courts.
Police have been undertaking the investigation following a court order, state-affiliated FANA broadcasting corporate reported on Thursday.
The area where the mass graves were found saw instigated ethnic clashes — many Somali and Oromo nationals had been killed at the areas adjoining the two regional states in eastern Ethiopia.
