ANKARA (AA) – Two soldiers have been martyred during a PKK terror attack in southeastern Hakkari province, according to the military Wednesday.

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the incident occurred when terrorists detonated a planted explosive device amidst an ongoing counter-terror operation in Semdinli district.

A soldier was also wounded in the incident.

Turkish Armed Forces will “continue its fight against all terror organizations until the last terrorist is killed, ” the statement said, which also conveyed condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers.

The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including women and children.
